RECAP: PASSAFIRE @ JANNUS LIVE REGGAE SUNDAY

What's up Sociabulls!?

Hope you were able to catch the amazing show last night at Jannus Live. Passafire was the main featured band in the Reggae Sunday series at Jannus, but the best part is, that is was free! Having Passafire stop by Jannus for a show was a pleasant surprise because St. Petersburg was not a listing on the Start from Scratch Tour. So when word gets around about Passafire having a free show at Jannus, St. Pete finds its ways to pack the place!

The vibe and energy was intense and full of reggae aficionados. The crowd comprised of passionate Passafire fans, roots reggae rock fans and people just enjoying a free show with good music. Fans singing along, a piñata being thrown around and some glowing hula hooper's hooping in the back.

Fans got a good share of Passafire songs from previous albums, but also got to experience a lot of new songs from their recent one, Start from Scratch. One of the performances that stuck out the most was a full acoustic performance of "Dimming Sky" with a very nice addition of a ukulele. Another really neat part of the concert was the reggae cover version of Miike Snow's indie hit, "Animal." The cover was insanely catchy and had the entire crowd into it.

At the end of the concert, when Passafire left the stage, the crowd was not ready to let the night end. A encore is what the crowd demanded and voiced very loudly. Passafire ended up coming out to play one more song and thank St. Pete and Jannus Live for the night. Call this a true encore and not something planned. Fortunato'sSome of the best tasting food late at night is a great slice of pizza. Luckily, at Fortunato's there are several options for you to get the perfect slice you need. Thursday nights and First Friday's are when you will see the most amount of people lining up to try to get a slice. Waiting to grab your own slice does not take long at all though. The atmosphere of people hanging out with the happy drunchies (drunken munchies) will find a creative way to entertain themselves. By the time you get your slice and get that first bite, you will truly know that you made the right choice.

Angie'sThe one spot out of these three with the widest variety of food to pick from has to be a little place called Angie's. Late at night, Angie's closes the inside seating and becomes a window shop right next to Jannus Live. Here you can get freshly made french fries, burgers and chicken fingers quickly. Angie's is fun to get any time you are craving that fourth meal or attending an event at Jannus Live. The food is great and they service is entertaining, one of the best fourth meal options here in St. Petersburg, so be sure to try it at least once.

RECAP: SLIMMIE HENDRIX AT BISHOPS 12/16/11

Bishops Tavern & Lounge kicked off with a dedicated audience for the All You Can Drink from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. and DJ Barry Carew spinning some fresh dance tunes. From the beginning of the night there was a strong positive atmosphere in the VIP. There were several birthdays being celebrated with everyone and bottles being popped everywhere. Around 11:30 p.m. the Lounge was getting packed with happy people and an energetic dance floor. We got a very special visit from recording artist QWILZ and helped us pop some bottles as well.

Once Slimmie Hendrix took the stage, the crowd was still packed and everyone gathered their energy to enjoy the show. Slimmie played songs from his EP, Sleezington Ave (download here) and got everyone into it, including a freestyle from a member in the crowd.

When Slimmie ended his show and got a great response, the party continued with more jams from DJ Barry Carew. The night had energy, happiness, an awesome atmosphere that you would NOT want to miss next time. Be sure to check out the next event at Bishops and don't forget, $10 ALL YOU CAN DRINK 9-11pm every Friday night!

DUI CHECKPOINTS THIS WEEKEND!

Hey there SociaBULLS, in an effort to reduce DUI related injuries and save lives this Holiday season, Pinellas County deputies will conduct four DUI checkpoints over the next weekend.

We don't want to see anything bad ever happen to our SociaBULLS so we thought we would share the dates and locations of the checkpoints this upcoming weekend.

Friday, December 16, 2011 from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Berea Baptist Church located at 370 Alt. 19 in Palm Harbor.

Saturday, December 17, 2011 from 12:30 a.m. to 3:30 a.m.
K-Mart located at 26996 US Highway 19 North in Clearwater

Are you wondering what to expect at these checkpoints? Well according to the Pinellas County Sheriffs Office there will be about thirty-five to forty Patrol, Prisoner Transport, Community Policing, K-9, and Narcotics deputies. There will also be members of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Crash Investigators Unit that will be on hand to assist with non-enforcement related tasks. 

**Deputies will also be looking for other traffic violations to include driver license, registration, insurance, and equipment violations.** 

Stay safe this holiday season and remember, NEVER DRINK AND DRIVE!
